The Movie: While one could say that it follows shows like "Jackass" and "The Dudesons", "Adrenalin Crew" (which was apparently spawned out of a pay-per-view special on street biking) is different in one dismaying way: these people are actually out on public roads - or at least they sure appear to be in this second volume of stunts. While "Jackass" (or at least as much as I've seen of it) had the crew injuring themselves on their own, some scenes in "Adrenalin Crew 2" have the participants doing motorcycle stunts on public roads, where they could potentially injure someone else. In-between the stunts, there's some footage of various models at what appear to be bike/car shows and the occasional prank, such as the participants shooing fireworks at each other. There's no actual structure to this program, like you'd find in "Jackass" - it's simply a highlight reel of random stuff. Some of the bike stunts are impressive, although there's a lot of the same stunts throughout the show. Fans of bike stunts may want to give this one a rental, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. The DVD VIDEO/AUDIO: "Adrenalin Crew 2" is presented in 1.33:1 full-frame here. The image quality is understandably rough, as the show looks to have been taped using a basic consumer videocam. Sharpness and detail still appear reasonably decent, considering. Some minor pixelation is occasionally spotted and there appears to be a couple of moments of wear with the original tapes. Colors look fairly good, with decent saturation and only occasional instances of smearing. The stereo soundtrack presents clear music and occasional dialogue. EXTRAS: Director's commentary, additional footage, music video. Final Thoughts: Fans of bike stunts may want to give this one a rental, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it. |
